ChazMan!

I had another great weekend at the lake. I think I've found my happy place. It was fun filled weekend with good times! We talked Paula into golfing with the boys and of course she hit from the Men's T's and still kicked our butts. Mike and Sandra made a huge pot of spaghetti and fed us all again.

Chaz with a spectacular sunset.

We spent the weekend up to our necks in the cool lake water with a high temp of 102.9 degrees on Aug 16th. A small fire in the 25 Mile Creek basin was reported late Thursday afternoon.

Wapato Family Fly-In Week (August 4-10th)

What a beautiful week at Wapato for the 5th annual Wapato Lake Fly-In. New in attendance this year were Pam, Kyran & baby D (Declan) as well as the new kittens Petra and Zach. Specifics on the results of the Fly-In will follow once dad has had time to absorb the total destruction of his J3-Cub (he insists it will fly again, however).

As usual we all ate very well this week. Paula & George brought fresh alaskan salmon and Halibut that they caught the week prior in Kodiak. Joanie contributed a wonderful pasta dish. Thank you Aunt Kerin for the ever-so-tasty Zucchini bread and Lisa for making the famous Woodinville Falcon BBQ Beans. The food at Wapato is so great it has inspired us to start a "Lake House Recipe Journal."

As usual the great stories are too many to mention but it has been decided that the funniest story of the week was Lisa's swim suit story-we are still laughing about it!

George took the kids (Chaz, Taylor and Michela) and joined Kelly, the boys and Lisa and Rachael at the Omak Stampede while the rest of us spent a little time at the Tildio Winery.

The big news for the week is the new addition to the family-a golden retriever named Finnegan that Paula and George (&Chaz and Taylor) adopted from a family in Wenatchee. He has settled right in and in addition to being a little counter surfer he also fetches flip flops (just ask Sharon).

New Association trail

The trail leading down to the dock is complete thanks to the Paul, George & Kirk. Paul spent a few days just moving the rocks down to the water edge. He had to build the trail as he went to keep from rolling into the lake. Kirk and George were the muscle for man handling the rocks into place.

4th of July, 2008

Another weekend at the Lake. The wind blew a lot this weekend but we didn't let that stop us from getting some quality time on the new dock. Mike and Sandra joined us on Friday-we celebrated Kirks Birthday BBQing and watching the Manson fireworks display from the back porch. Lisa, Molly and Rachel joined us on Saturday (along with two new additions to the family-two small kittens that we have named Zach and Petra). We spent the first part of the evening at Tildio listening to a Jazz band and were later treated to the most Awesome spread of food put on by Mike and Sandra. Good food, good wine, good times continue at Wapato Lake.

Memorial Day 2008

Memorial Day Weekend 2008!
Another weekend of work mixed with leisure, sun mixed with rain and good food mixed with good company and great wine.
The lawn has been mowed and now that the sprinkler system is in Dad can relax a little and not worry about moving sprinklers around all the time. Mom, Rhonda and I made trips to the nursery and planted lots of great stuff including Lavender, Sun Rose, tomatoes and even a small pumpkin patch which Chaz has taken great ownership in.
The dock is in and the water is quite cold still. But have no fear, the new hot tub worked nicely to warm us up and relieve the tired and sore muscles after a day of hard work.
Chaz wants to be sure not to forget to mention that for the first time in Wapato history we even had a fire in the fire pit and made the most delicious smores ever!

Community Dock

Well, it’s been a long road but the Community dock is finally in the water. We had to correspond with twelve different agencies for the permitting. Paul spent some thirty hours forming up and pouring the concrete dock pad. Special thanks to Chaz for mixing 24 bags of concrete with a little help from dad.

Wapato Lake Fishing opener 2008

The weather could have not been any better. The sun was out in all of its springtime glory and temperatures were in the low 60s with no wind...

We started the day off in Manson at the 1st Annual Community & Lake Chelan Building Supply Yard Sale. The Wapato Lake fishing opener was surprisingly slow, producing less than one fish per rod. Chaz and I almost got Skunked with only one fish but we were unable to pull it into the boat. One of the neighbors was feeling sorry for Chaz and I and they gave us one for dinner. The girls spent the day gardening in the gorgeous spring day.

Little Switzerland

All bets are off this year when it comes to weather predictions, but there's a reason the locals call this corner of Central Washington "America's Little Switzerland." The late afternoon winter light casts a steel-gray glow over the mountains and Lake Wapato.
